Emily Irene VanCamp originally wanted to pursue a career as professional dancer. However, after watching her sister Katie on The Ladies Room movie set, Emily began to be interested in acting. The actress began taking acting classes. She also got guest spots on TV series from her home country of Canada. Some of the TV series she starred in include Are You afraid to be in the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp made a breakthrough in his career after being cast as regular Sam Dolan on the WB horror-themed mystery series Glory Days. It was cancelled after nine episodes despite receiving positive reviews. On May 12, 1986, the actress was quickly offered a second part in Everwood. Her character Amy Abbott is one of the principal characters. For this part, it was that she was nominated by the Young Artist Award, and she also won Four Teen Choice Awards.
